50th Wedding Anniversary Shower Party Idea
You’ve selected the venue, invited all the guests and have found the perfect favor to honor your parent’s 50 years of marital bliss but it hasn’t been easy keeping it from them. What do you do when someone slips and tells them about the party that will be hosted in their honor? Host a faux 50th Wedding Anniversary Shower.
Instead of sending out invitations, call the invitees a couple of weeks ahead and tell them you intend on hosting a faux wedding shower for your parents but that they are not expected to bring anything but themselves. No need to cater, just have some snacks, wine, coffee and cake.
You and your siblings will want to purchase items from the discount store and wrap them with gold wrapping paper, fancy ribbons and bows, as if they were expensive wedding shower gifts. A few suggestions would be to purchase things for the kitchen and bath such as soaps, baskets, towels, and sheets, etc. A very clever idea would be to buy paper goods such as paper cups, plates, plastic champagne glasses, plastic spoons, and forks and box them as if they are expensive China.
Your parents will be pleasantly surprised and will get a kick out of the gag gifts which they will be able to put to use in their home.
